TREAD CAREFUL, THAT SLOPE IS GETTING AWFUL SLIPPERY

This week Obama lifted what is commonly referred to as "The (evil, war-mongering) Bush ban on embryonic stem cell research". In actuality, it was a ban on tax-payer funded embryonic stem cell research. Never the less, it's all fair game now. And we can't be surprised. During the campaign we learned how little Obama valued some life even after birth.. slowly dying alone in a janitor's closet.

Silly social conservatives! Everyone knows the value of each human life depends on who "owns" that life. An embryo lost at 7 weeks through miscarriage of a wanted pregnancy? A tragedy. A 7 week old embryo ripped from the womb during an abortion? It never existed. You see the question isn't even "when does life begin?" anymore. Science has proven that if people are willing to see it. It's who controls that life. *insert bad taste comparison of a slippery slope to a birth canal here*

While conservatives and liberals united over being disgusted at "octomom" Nadya Suleman's decision to be implanted with 8 embryos we completely missed the point. Dr. Phil missed it too in his in depth interview with her. Her reason for being implanted with all 8 embryos (as well as her other 6 children) was that she saw them all as human lives. (By the way, noone thought in a million years more than 1 or 2 embryos would take) Frozen or gestated, they were all her children. That's her big mistake. That's the bottom line beneath all the backlash. I say we turn the papparazzi cameras and Dateline exposes (maybe they could take a break from the pedophile stings) toward the short-sighted fertility community who should've seen this coming.

I'm not against embryonic stem cell research because I enjoy watching Michael J. Fox suffer. I'm against it because I don't think Michael J. Fox's life is worth more than that of a frozen embryo with immeasurable potential.

And while I could never fully support the practice, I could possibly leave the issue alone if I thought the destruction of frozen embryos in fertility clinics was where it would end. But I'm afraid it won't. The logical next step will be the Planned Parenthood pamphlet telling their clients they're heroes for donating their aborted embryos/fetuses for research. Not to mention the eventual extraction of the middle man, creating embryos for the sole purpose of destruction.

While embryonic stem cell research from fertility procedure surplus is the easiest way to possibly cure these diseases we don't know that it's the only way. Adult stem cells and amniotic stem cells are also possibilities. And at least one company is looking into a procedure to harvest embryonic stem cells without having to destroy the embryo.

Yes, I'm a closed minded monster cavewoman for seeing the same miracle in a petrie dish that I saw in my own newborn children.

IT'S TIME FOR A FAMILY MEETING

A few days ago I joined a conservative social networking site (which I won't name because I think it has great potential and people should judge for themselves) in which I was quickly disappointed in a small, but obnoxious faction of the GOP. We're in bigger trouble than I thought. This blog was originally posted there.

I was so excited to join this site a few days ago. Visions of connecting with like-minded Americans locally and exchanging ideas for practical ways average Americans could stand up for and strengthen conservatism danced in my head.I quickly saw that this community of 3000 decent, well intentioned patriots are outshouted by a few ego-driven, overgrown children with what I suspect are their own political pipe dreams. The site is called rebuild the party, but all I'm reading are the same regurgitated discussions about what makes a Conservative and why we should have won. Well, we didn't, and if what I've seen so far is any indication we're not going to for a long time. I hear enough whining from my children. If I want to hear grown people whine I'll watch Oprah.
Conservative credentials are important... in the people actually running for office. Fighting amongst ourselves about whether the mechanic is more conservative than the banker is not the path to victory.
John McCain's carreer of bi-partisanship is not why we lost. (I like Mike Huckabee, but do you really think he would have been more electable?) We lost because Jon Stewart has a wider, more energetic audience than Fred Barnes. We lost because President Obama had a better speechwriter than John McCain. We lost because President Bush didn't stick up for himself enough. We lost because Conservatives actually considered staying home because of McCain's prior stances on immigration reform and campaign finance. Are you kidding me? We also lost because Obama reached out to Christians. How a Christian could vote for that baby killer is beyond me, but they did.
And how about this? Maybe if the bull-headed Huckabee supporters would have crossed over to camp Romney in time, then a world class businessman would have been our nominee just in time for the economic crisis.
And why have I spent the last 3 days defending Libertarians? I'm not a Libertarian. I considered it, studied it and came to the conclusion I just couldn't make that leap. But during that process they won my respect. Let me tell you what I know about Ron Paul supporters. December of '07 they stood near the exit close to my community's mall every weekend until well after dark. This was in a part of town where I check the backseat and underneath the car when I leave a store to see if some gangbanger is waiting to shiv me. That's dedication AND action. Those people are nuts for sure, but we could learn a few things from them about grassroots activism.
If we have any hope of truly rebuilding the party we have got to focus on what unites us more than what divides us. We should focus on the issues affecting the Conservative movement today. The upcoming census, protecting our children from Tiller the Killer on their way out of the womb, preventing conjugal visits for terrorists, socialism, universal healthcare and maybe most important of all... freedom of speech. When we lose that, we'll lose all the others.
So if you're truly interested in sharing ideas about what's best for America (out of love for America over ego) then I can't wait to connect with you. If you're interested in keeping your feet in the mud and waiting for the rest of the world to find you and come around to your way of thinking, then I'm not moderating comments. Go ahead and let me have it.

MITT ROMNEY COME BE MY LIGHT

I think I've made it clear that I adore, quite literally adore, John McCain, but during the primary I was a Mitt Romney supporter. (I blame Huckabee, but that's water under the bridge) With our current economic problems I can't help but wonder if Romney had been the nominee would Barack Obama be doing something different today? Like choosing which issue to vote present on next or pondering a way to be even further left than organizations like Planned Parenthood.

As the Big Three executives were flying to Washington D.C. on lier jets to ask the government for our money, Romney was writing this short, to the point, common sense op-ed piece for the New York Times. He says giving them the bailout they're asking for will dictate their failure.

He makes several good, should be obvious points.

1. The Big Three need new labor agreements so they can produce cars that can be competitive in price to their foreign counterparts.
2. CHANGE in management. New faces from unrelated industries, successful industries.

3. Management and unions - let the healing begin. I don't know nuthin' 'bout buildin' no cars and I don't know nuthin' 'bout economics. But I do know that labor unions are proficient at defeating their purpose. I think when they come in there is a legitimate need, but their demands are insatiable.

I am very proud to have been born in Moline, IL, home of John Deere, the Detroit of farm implements. My grandfather worked like a dog his whole life at factory jobs in that industry. They got by, but it wasn't thanks to the unions. My dad told me every time the family would start to get ahead they'd go on strike. He said there was a time they were going on strike every year. Eventually my grandfather chose to cross the picket line to feed his family. Dad and Grandpa are both dead now and I can't remember the details, but he was met with clear threats to himself, his home and his family. Some brotherhood. My dad told me at one point he got one of his first jobs at the factory. One day he saw my grandpa at work, wringing with sweat from head to toe. He knew my grandfather worked hard, but he had no idea. My dad told me this story several times, so I know it made an big impression. An American that works that hard his whole life should get ahead. You might even call it the American Dream. Yeah, unions suck at the American Dream.
Where was I? Oh, Romney doesn't only chastise the unions. He goes after the executives also and deservedly so. He says, "The need for collaboration will mean accepting sanity in salaries and perks." Did I mention they took lier jets to D.C. to beg for money. Even the evil Walmart executives fly commercial and double up on Motel 6 rooms. Has anyone heard how Walmart is weathering the economic crisis?

Romney goes on to stress the importance of research and development especially fuel saving technologies. See environmentalists, money may actually make the world go round.

I think Americans are emotional about the Detroit auto industry. I was sad to hear they stopped making Oldsmobiles a few years, mainly because we had one when I was a kid. Also because I'm a big, silly girl. But really, the auto industry is a big part of our history. I will be bummed if the Big Three fail, but I'll be more bummed if we have to give another 26 billion taxpayer dollars to companies whose failed executives are too good to fly commercial.

COUNTRY FIRST LIVES ON

It’s 10:41 a.m. and all is not well. The con of the century has just been pulled on the greatest country on Earth. Americans have entrusted our leadership to a man who wouldn’t pass the security clearance his body guards had to pass. His path to the White House went through Chicago, a city I hold close to my heart but also hold disgust towards. I have no doubt political checks were post dated to lowlifes in the filthy Chicago political machine the last 20 years. On January 21st they’re gonna be cashed, and Americans will pay dearly. What’s done is done. We can’t do anything about that besides hand-wring. And I hate hand-wringers. I’m a conservationist and that’s a huge waste of energy. We need to take action.

Hopefully conservatism has now hit rock bottom. We can only move up, baby. We need to make a lot of changes and, like it or not, a big part of that is image. What image does the average swing voter have of conservatives? James Dobson. Tom Delay. Rush. Abortion clinic bombers. Gay bashers. Hypocrisy. The comb-over. Some of those things are good, some are bad. Some are misunderstood representations of conservatism and some are parts of conservatism that need to go away. We need the youth. And by youth I mean under 40.

Young people are attracted to liberalism because they think it means freedom. The rest of us know nothing could be farther from the truth. I suspect the Obama bubble will inevitably burst. Hopefully before 2012. When he fails to deliver rainbows and unicorns the “Obama Youth” will be sorely disappointed. They’ll be a little older, life will have kicked them in the butt a little bit and they’ll be looking for the real American Dream. And we need to be there to help them find it. I know all this is true because I used to be that way. There just wasn’t an Obama in my day. Instead of having my delusions shattered by an empty suit I was rudely awoken on 9/11, like a lot of people.

So where do we start? I say anywhere. Voting and bumper stickers aren’t cutting it. After the election I wrote a sappy letter to John McCain. I hope he reads it someday. Getting to “know him” during his campaign really changed the way I think about being an American and being a human being. His campaign is over, but I see no reason for “Country First” to stop. I think those two words really sum it up. There are big and small ways to put Country First on a regular basis. The new bumper sticker should be on our bathroom mirrors and it should say, “What have you done to advance conservatism today?” That’s what I’m trying to do, and if…oh, say a few million people will join me we can save America. I love this country and I think it’s worth saving. Who’s with me? Let’s make John McCain proud. Let’s make Abraham Lincoln proud. Let’s take back America before it’s too late.

THESE ARE THE PEOPLE IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD

Bill Ayers isn’t the only guy from the neighborhood giving headaches to the Obama campaign. Winning the award for the underreported story of the season is Obama’s longtime friendship and glowing accolades given at a going away party for Rashid Khalidi in 2003.

Who’s Rashid Khalidi? His resume is lengthy. Columbia University Professor (you know, the one that gave Achmadinejad a platform to speak a couple years ago), Director of the MEI (Middle East Institute) at Columbia where he presides over a $300,000 annual grant from the federal government, board member , trustee, adviser and yakkety-yak of countless pro-Palestine organizations (I resent the fact that Microsoft works assumes I want to capitalize Palestine… and Microsoft). He’s basically the go-to scholar for anti-Israel, elites the world over. But here’s the shining star in his resume, while a professor in Beirut in the 70s he often spoke to reporters on behalf of Yasser Arafat, to whom his 1986 book was dedicated. Yes, he was the press secretary of a recognized terrorist group (PLO). That was before he was just another guy in Barack Obama’s neighborhood.

On April 10, 2008 the LA Times published an article entitled Allies of Palestinians see a friend in Barack Obama. The LA Times claims to have a video of Obama paying tribute to Khalidi at a farewell dinner before he left for his new job at Columbia. He reminisces about his many talks with Khalidi, where Obama said these talks served as, “consistent reminders to me of my own blind spots and my own biases… It’s for that reason that I’m hoping that, for many years to come, we continue that conversation. The article also claims the Khalidi’s hosted a 2000 fundraiser for Obama.

Maybe it was a block party because Bill Ayers is said to have paid tribute to Khalidi as well. The McCain campaign released a statement today requesting the tape be released. The LA Times claims they are refusing to release the tape because it was “provided by a confidential source who did so on the condition that we not release it.” Fine. If you don’t protect your sources you won’t have many sources.

The point is this. Obama isn’t from Chicago. He moved to Chicago for the exact purpose of launching a political career. In one of his 842 memoirs he states that he chose his friends carefully. Yet, when the opposition takes a closer look at his choice in friends we’re grasping at straws. (Speaking of straws, I’ve never once mentioned Obama’s admitted cocaine use… oops). We’re big meanies panicking at impending defeat.

I’m panicking alright. I’m panicking because if the polls are correct we are about to elect an Anti-Israel, Socialist loving, inexperienced, yahoo with a messiah complex. The economy, terrorism, a war with victory in sight, taxes, his unthinkable stance on the Born Alive Act, the White Sox. He’s in far out cuckoo town on… everything. America is facing huge challenges and this is no time to be playing games and high time TO panic.

I DON'T NEED A WEATHERMAN TO KNOW WHICH WAY THE WIND BLOWS

What did I do before I discovered Bill Ayers? I thrive on disgust and hate and he makes my cup runneth over. I was just on American Thinker reading about his ties to Hugo Chavez. Despite some of his disputed associations, this one’s for real. It’s so real his stepson, Chesa (a girl’s name, but whatever, if it‘s pink and it fits) is an intern in the Chavez regime, as in his office is next door to Chavez’. And Ayers is a bigshot in the Miranda International Center which works tirelessly to bring Cuba-style education to Venezuelan school children. Bear with me, surprisingly this blog has nothing to do with Obama.

I must be stupid. I’m confused. I’ve heard audio of Ayers refer to himself as an anarchist. I’ve read quotes where he has no qualms about claiming communism (although he notes it’s communism with a small C). Okay. Webster defines anarchism as: 1. the theory that all forms of government interfere unjustly with individual liberty and should be replaced by the voluntary association of cooperative groups 2. Resistance, sometimes by terrorism, to organized government. Communisms goal of a classless society is achieved by complete government control. Strange bedfellows, indeed.

Ayers and the like want no government. They want rivers of LSD, and flowers for ammo (who needs ammo when you can build a nail bomb?) La di da di da. So they idolize dictators like Chavez and Castro who use violent intimidation to gain complete control over their citizens. I still don’t understand. How doesn’t that scare the hell out of an anarchist? One goal of communism is a classless society. (We’re gonna achieve equality by ruining EVERYONE’S lives) I suppose terrorizing and abusing whole populations until they are ALL in a state of third world style poverty is one way of achieving that.

Wow! I need an Excedrin because my head hurts from trying to wrap itself around the gaping hole in far-leftist rationale. Does this make sense to anyone? Please, please, please explain it to me. Explain to me how the goal of absolute freedom at any cost (anarchy) has become married to communism, which in every case winds up with government control of everything.

I’ll be waiting. In the meantime, I’m gonna keep going with this freedom thing. It’s still new (only a couple centuries old), but I’ve heard great things about it.

IS THAT ALL YA' GOT?

If you followed any news this weekend you undoubtedly heard about a scathing New York Times article about Cindy McCain. Reports said she was slammed over her drug addiction, philanthropy, miscarriages and a Princess Di obsession. One would have thought there was some bombshell about Mrs. McCain beating the children or black market organ selling to support her drug addiction. Not so much. I’ve cherry picked the quotes that stick out to me (wonder where I learned to do that).

She has done relatively few solo events, grants interviews reluctantly— she declined to speak for this article —
Now, why on earth would she not want to talk to the New York Times?

and in introducing her husband at events, she offers few of the heartwarming anecdotes that are the stock in trade of the political spouse. When she finishes, she stands silently behind him, sometimes with an approving smile, sometimes looking strained.
So she’s shy.

From the start, Mrs. McCain’s marriage has been defined by her husband’s ambitions, and despite her sometimes punishing ride in political life, she does whatever she must to help fulfill them.
There’s this lady from Arkansas she should meet. I think she lives in New York now.

She played a role in the Keating Five savings-and-loan scandal,
“Hillary Clinton, White Water”. Google it.

and just as her husband was rehabilitating his reputation, she was caught stealing drugs from her nonprofit organization to feed her addiction to painkillers.
Her husband was gone a lot, she had a bad back and 4 children. My husband’s gone a lot, I have back problems and two small children. I’ve often been grateful I don’t have access to the kinds of painkillers Cindy McCain became addicted. By the way, there’s an epidemic of American women with these kinds of addictions because they go to their idiot, self absorbed doctors for migraines or menstrual cramps and he or she gives them a never ending Rx for painkillers. Good luck, lady.
She has a fortune that sets the McCains apart from most other Americans, a problem in a presidential race that hinges on economic anxieties.
Her family’s story is the picture of the American dream. It should be an inspiration to struggling Americans.

Those close to Mrs. McCain say she aspires to be like another blonde, glamorous figure married to an older man: Diana, the Princess of Wales. Mrs. McCain sought out the same mine-clearing organization that the princess supported, joining its board and traveling to minefields, just as her role model had. Mrs. McCain recently told British reporters that as first lady, she would take her cues from Diana, throwing herself into international philanthropy.
What’s wrong with that? Although I’ve never understood the hype, I’d say if you’re interested in international philanthropy Princess Diana would make a fine role model. I wonder when the last time Jodi Kantor and David Halbfinger went across town to help the needy, let alone across the world.

Mrs. McCain has traveled by her husband’s side on the campaign trail and helped reorganize the campaign after it floundered in 2007.
By the way Cindy, good job.

When The New York Times reported last winter that Mr. McCain’s staffers had urged him to stay away from a female lobbyist during his first presidential run, Mrs. McCain stood by her husband at a news conference and defended his honor.
That article turned out to be baseless too didn’t it?

Referring to Mrs. McCain‘s first days in D.C. Diana Dunn, former wife of Maine Senator William S. Cohen, said, “Cindy was a little bit star struck by John’s fame and the strength of his personality.“ Dunn also recalls the new Mrs. McCain as gracious but timid, unschooled in Washington conversation, and worried about fitting in.
Maverick!

To me the article trashes John McCain’s qualifications as a husband more than Mrs. McCain’s character.
When he was home, the two were “as affectionate as you can be with John McCain,” said Wes Gullet, a former aide, explaining that his old boss, with his military training, restless energy and sarcastic humor, is not the cuddly type. “He’s a funny and vivacious guy, but he is not someone who spends his weekend watching ‘The Way We Were,’ ” Mr. Gullet said.
John McCain isn’t going to watch “The Way We Were” because he’s…not…gay! Also, Barbara Streisand is ugly and evil. My sources, who are equally reliable to those of the New York Times, tell me Streisan eats live kittens and throws the bones at orphans. It’s totally true.

Recently, Mrs. McCain has called the separations painful, volunteering that she endured several miscarriages alone. She spent subsequent pregnancies mostly confined to home, Ms. Ross said, sitting in a favorite stuffed chair, watching videos. But she rarely complained. “Her attitude was as a good soldier,” Mr. Gullet said.
Maybe she didn’t complain because she was grateful to be having successful pregnancies and was doing everything she could to protect them. Motherhood starts at conception too. Also, If John McCain was never home then how did he manage to keep poor Cindy pregnant all the time?

Mrs. McCain often mentions her travels to Rwanda at the height of the 1994 genocide — she wrote about it in a recent Wall Street Journal opinion piece and has been praised by politicians and newspaper columnists for jetting into the heart of a massacre. As with her other charity trips, participants praised her eagerness to help victims of tragedy. But news accounts and interviews indicate, and a campaign spokesman confirmed, that Mrs. McCain traveled after the genocide had ended, spending time with refugees in neighboring Zaire, now Congo. Asked if she was ever in Rwanda, as Mrs. McCain has stated many times, a campaign spokesman, Jill Hazelbaker, said “she was driven to the Zaire/Rwanda border in order to assess the conditions of the refugees entering the country.”
Again, when was the last time any of us went to Rwanda?

Kantor and Halbfinger seem to be schizophrenic. The article meanders between describing Cindy McCain as a meek trophy wife and a shrewd opportunist. Whenever I read these things the same thought goes through me head. “Is that all ya’ got?” This isn’t news. This isn’t relevant. This is the “Pink Ladies” pickin’ on Sandy in Grease for… whatever they were picking on her for.
You live in New York for Christ’s sake. I thought that was the city that never sleeps. The center of the universe. Why don’t you get off your elitist butts, leave the office and find something newsworthy. You forgot the criteria for newsworthiness didn’t you? It’s okay. Stop by any community college journalism 101 night class and borrow someone’s textbook It’s in the first chapter. You can't miss it. Well, you probably will. You seem to be proficient at missing the most important part of everything.

THANK YOU FOR BEING A FRIEND

Assuming the polls are correct (they rarely are) the probability is that Barack Obama will be the next President of the United States. (Someone hide the knives before I gut myself) History will be made.

Obama will be the first black President. Despite what I’m told about racism being rampant, if you look back 50 years or so we’ve made amazing progress. While we’re patting ourselves on the back we should also note that the fact that slavery and segregation are part of our history at all is… disgusting.

But Obama’s race isn’t what makes him so special. His super-cool friends are what makes him special. Obama’s political career was catapulted with the help of his unrepentant domestic terrorist friend. (Yes, liberals, I know you’re sick of us talking about Bill Ayers. But it’s just so unbelievable we have to keep saying it out loud to wrap our heads around this absolutely Captain Insano reality).

Tony Rezko thinks Obama’s special too. Unfortunately the convicted felon can’t pull the lever for his pal. He’s too busy down at the prosecutor’s office rolling over on all his other friends.

Reverend Jeremiah Wright can vote for Obama though. That is if he can crawl out from underneath that bus by election day. You remember him. He was Obama’s spiritual mentor for over 20 years. He led Obama to Christ. Officiated his marriage to Michelle and baptized their daughters. Obama attended his church for over 20 years and never heard a peep about God damning America, especially the first Sunday after 9/11. He never heard that the government created AIDS to kill black people. He never heard the government knew about the Pearl Harbor attack before it happened. He never heard the government injected black men with syphilis and the CIA put Nelson Mandela in prison… in South Africa. (Boy, this government guy is a BUSY boy) Miracle Ear are you listening? Apparantly our next President can’t hear things that might be harmful to his political aspirations later on.

Frank Raines must be a really good friend to Obama. Despite the fact that he’s an integral part of the sub-prime mortgage crisis, he’s still an economic adviser to Obama. I said ECONOMIC adviser. For reals. It’d be funny ‘cept it’s true.

Louis Farrakhan wants to be Obama’s friend. I’d want to be his friend too if I seriously believed he was the Messiah. (No, this guys serious! Seriously.)

All the nuts at ACORN are friends of Obama’s too. As are every dead person and felon whose social security number the can get their hands on.

There is one demographic group that AREN’T friends of Obama’s. Abortion survivors. You know, the children born alive despite the attempt at an abortion at 37 weeks gestation. Obama went out of his way to make sure they’re left to die so the people trying to abort them wouldn’t feel bad. I’ve never been aborted, but I bet that feels bad too. Doesn’t matter, they can’t vote… ever… they’re dead.

Maybe I should reconsider. I mean a domestic terrorist, a crazy pants hateful old pastor emeritus, Louis Farrakhan and countless community organizers hellbent on voter fraud can’t be wrong. Not to mention all the celebrities. They must be really smart because no one gets rich just for being pretty.

Yes, I must be the crazy one.

NOW, the truth is out

What d’ya know? Someone’s been listening. Yesterday, Shelly Mandell, the president of the Los Angeles chapter of the National Organization for Women introduced Sarah Palin at a campaign rally in Carson, CA.

Mandell said, “Make no mistake, I’m a life-long Democrat… I don’t agree with Gov. Palin on several issues… I know Sarah Palin cares about women’s rights, she cares about equality, she cares about equal pay, and as Vice President she will fight for it. She cares about our children and she cares about women’s lives. She’s an athlete and she knows what Title Nine did for girls like her… It is an honor to call her sister”

Hallelujah. In recent weeks, mine and other conservative women’s prior suspicions were proven true. There is no room in modern feminism for a pro-life woman. Groups like Feminist for Life of America (www.feministsforlife.org) have been fighting this battle in the background for quite awhile, but the Palin nomination brought the ugly truth into the light. It’s tough to be a pro-life feminists. I’m not invited to go shoe shopping with the Sex and the City gals because I don’t understand how abortion is good for women, and the gals on the church hospitality committee don’t quite get me either. And I’ve recently learned that I’m not alone.

Despite all of Palin’s feminist credentials; female athlete, successful working mother, first female Governor of Alaska, she wasn’t allowed in the club because she is pro-life. The only right for women NOW really cares about is the right to abortion and now everyone knows it, including pro-choice feminists who can see beyond one issue. Pro-choice feminists like Shelly Mandell, and boy is she in trouble. Here’s a portion of a statement issued by the California National Organization for Women (who support abortion).

Ms. Mandell was speaking as an individual and was not authorized to represent NOW, the NOW PAC or LA NOW in any capacity in connection with a federal candidate endorsement… As President of California NOW and as a member and officer of Los Angeles NOW, I can assure you that there is no local or state affiliate of NOW, including LA NOW, which endorses or supports the McCain/Palin ticket. John McCain and Sarah Palin oppose many of the rights and freedoms we have fought for throughout NOW's 42 years, and we will not be pushed back to the days of back-alley abortions, forced pregnancies, and pay discrimination without remedy.

Statement from CA NOW President, Patty Bellasalma

The statement mentions that Palin opposes many of the right and freedoms of women, but the only issue they refer to by name is abortion. I would LOVE to know what other women’s issues she’s on the wrong side of. TELL ME! JUST TELL ME how I’m wrong and I will say, “I’m sorry, I was wrong.” And we’ll hug, cut the sleeves off our flannel shirts and go to Lillith Fair. I’ll be waiting… right here… anytime… whatever’s good for you…

PITBULL UNLEASHED

I don't just watch debates, I take very trivial notes.  Want to borrow 'em?
Chris Wallace compared the debate to Nascar. I can see it. It seems to me this was a peculiar form of debate. The graphic said Vice Presidential debate, but everyone knows Palin is expected to qualify for President.

The democrats keep crediting the bailout plan to Obama’s criteria. I still don’t know exactly where they’re getting that. Watch if it works it’s Obama’s idea. If it fails it’s McCain’s.

Palin looked into the camera and spoke directly to the American people, as opposed to Biden who answered directly to Ifill until he noticed what Palin was doing and copied her.

I want to ask Joe Biden why if we’re going to blame a Presidential Administration for this mess why not start with the Clinton administration who wanted led the ownership for everyone, even if it ruins their lives movement.

Palin is gave America a tough love speech about financial accountability, but I still want to stand up and cheer.

Joe Biden could be replaced by any old, white, male, democrat.

Will someone please explain Obama’s trickle up economic policy for me. Seriously, it doesn’t make any sense. I’m probably stupid. It’s a disability. Give me some money.

Talk about experience. Palin cited personal experience in her own family to inform Biden that paying taxes isn’t patriotic.

According to Biden, redistribution of wealth is fairness. That must be that tricky new English.

Awesome, she knows the names of the guys that hate her in the big oil companies. Obama didn’t even know the name of the fallen soldier on his bracelet.

Biden, how many times do I have to say this? The car that I need to drive for the at least the next 5 years doesn’t run on alternative energy.

“Hi topic called energy, I’m Sarah Palin, excuse me while I kick your butt.”

What’s true or not about global warming, in 30 seconds please? Palin deflected the question. She pointed that other countries attack the environment in ways we’d never dream of. Global warming is a global problem. It will take 10 years for oil we drill now to do any good. But, that’s what you guys all said 10 years ago.

I wish Biden and Obama would quit referring to our candidate as John. He’s not your mechanic.

A public timeline for troop withdrawal is like inviting Tiller the Killer (the notorious late term abortionist) to be with you in the delivery room.

I like Palin’s hair and outfit. Was that sexist? I should say something about Biden’s style choices. Okay, his teeth are as fake as his hair.

Uhoh, she said nucular… over and over.

Joe Biden is making goo goo eyes at Iliff while Palin is talking?

Wow! Hockey mom’s quoting actual military leaders on the war.

Wow! Donkey’s are a lot like horses. flippity-flop, flippity-flop

He just plugged his website. Maybe he has a future as a blogger.

She winked at us!

Am I really supposed to believe he spends a lot of time at Home Depot? I suppose he brings coffee and donuts to the day laborers.

Biden says his house must is his total investment. It must be, he sure doesn’t cut any checks for charitable organizations.

NEIL CAVUTO, COME BE MY LIGHT

So despite all the warnings we’ve heard about our doomed economy the last few years, only this last week is it officially in crisis. I’m no economist. I manage my family’s finances, but I don’t know from hedge funds and short selling. Every so often I flip on the Fox Business Network hoping some kind of financial savvy osmosis will occur. It hasn’t.

What I do know is shortly after we bought our first home in 2003 I started hearing buzzwords like, sub-prime, housing bubble and foreclosure crisis. As state above, I’m an economic idiot. My husband is too. When we got our mortgage in 2003 the lender laid out all our options before us. She explained the difference between adjustable and fixed rates. We made the mental note that she worked for commission. The more money she lent us the more money she would make. Our American dream and financial security were not her top priority and that was okay. We figured out how much we could realistically afford for a monthly payment, then found out how much house we could afford.

Rates were low. We could barely get an appointment with lenders because everyone and their gerbil was refinancing. The monthly payment with the A.R.M. loan was lower, but it would inevitably fluctuate depending on the market. The fixed rate payment was quite a bit higher, but it was just that… fixed. So common and sense had a conference call and we went with the latter. And honestly, I wish were a little more conservative with what we could afford. Between the new marriage, new baby, new job and single income factors it got stressful at times. Throw in variable property taxes and insurance rates and we definitely pulled some hair out. (I put mine in a heart shaped box and mailed it to Brit Hume. I really like Brit Hume)

Home ownership is a goal I highly recommend. When we decided to relocate a little over a year ago (thank God we’re not trying to do that now) we were pleasantly surprised with our home’s appreciation. (Our home was worth more, it didn’t literally appreciate us) But home ownership is a huge responsibility and the maintenance itself can be a huge source of stress.

Now the country is in the middle of a huge economic crisis cause in great part by the type of risky loan we passed up. And apparently it’s my problem (and yours… and yours… and yours). In my observation there are two types of people suffering from the mortgage crisis. There’s the hardworking, well intentioned people that just wanted a piece of the American dream. They were taken advantage of by predatory lenders and got in over their heads. I do feel sorry for them.

On the other hand, I think there was an epidemic of entitlementitis. I hear stories and see video of whole subdivisions of brand new homes that sit empty. The homeowners just walked away and often sabotaged the homes by drilling holes in the roof etc. There are communities in California that have to worry about West Nile virus now because they didn’t so much as drain the swimming pools before they left which cause a mosquito problem. That kind of behavior says a lot about those people. They show no accountability. I do not feel sorry for them. I kind of think they need to be taught a lesson.

Thankfully we know that this is all that baby eating, hurricane making, evil, war mongering George Bush’s fault. All we have to do is elect Barack Obama. He will wave his magic wand and a tornado of bureaucracies will whisk all our problems away.  Can we stick our heads in the sand until November?  Yes we can!

OH, OBAMA

i'm voting for barack obama on december 12 because he's about change. he's also going to give poor people lots of money and make everything okay. he will talk to terrorists and tell them killing americans isn't very nice and they will say sorry and stop. he also knows how to send email and john mccain doesn't so that must mean john mccain is old and silly.

john mccain also has probably never watched cribs or the real world so how can he understand real people?

obama is endorsed by black eyed peas and sheryl crowe and all the really famous sexy people. mccain is endorsed by ugly country people. i want to be a sexy, famous person. i want to go to the club and dance, dance, dance.

obama will also take everyone's guns away so they can't shoot eachother and noone will get murdered again. because the only way to murder someone is with a gun, duh.

everyone knows that george bush is a robot owned and operated by roger ailes who is an evil sorcerer.

and republican women are bad. sarah palin has all those babies and that's disgusting. mommies are stupid and can't do anything. oh and cindy mccain is like the queen of budweiser or something and that's for ugly people too. i like grey goose like chelsea handler. she's so smart and funny and edgy. she drinks and sleeps around and tells jokes about all the abortions she's had and that's empowering.

oh and george bush sends hurricanes to poor people because he hates them. actually, i think he likes them... likes to eat them. he's a bad, bad man. and dick cheney shoots people.

so that's why i'm voting for barack obama on december 12. see you at the polls.

(in case you haven't figured out i'm totally kidding.  a friend challenged me to write a "bad" blog)

BIRTHRIGHT

When anniversaries of any tragedy roll around, especially 9/11, many discuss what are appropriate and inappropriate ways to spend them. Some will relive the grief all over again tomorrow. Some will long for a way to tune out of all media and ignore the day. Some will seek out some sort of public remembrance to participate in. I think I’ll go back to the clichés of living each day to its fullest, appreciating the simple things, remembering that there’s no guarantee of tomorrow and most of all remembering the souls that aren‘t here to do the simple things anymore. The morning of 9/11 started with thousands of simple, mundane activities which the victims had no idea would be their last. As I complete the tedious tasks I do every other day, I hope tomorrow I’ll appreciate that I get to do them at all. That I’m home with my kids because I have a husband that provides for us. That my kids are healthy and thriving and if they’re not I have access to American healthcare. That that weird smell coming from the fridge is because we have TOO MUCH food. That I have the right to express every idiotic distasteful thought that comes through my mind for the whole world to read. That if you come in my house without permission I can shoot you.

For those of us that were born here, do you ever think about the sheer luck that we were born here and not in Leningrad or Bei Jing or Pyong Yang. I do. Freedom should be a right, but unfortunately it’s a privilege. That’s it. No witty conclusion today.
