What d’ya know? Someone’s been listening. Yesterday, Shelly Mandell, the president of the Los Angeles chapter of the National Organization for Women introduced Sarah Palin at a campaign rally in Carson, CA.
Mandell said, “Make no mistake, I’m a life-long Democrat… I don’t agree with Gov. Palin on several issues… I know Sarah Palin cares about women’s rights, she cares about equality, she cares about equal pay, and as Vice President she will fight for it. She cares about our children and she cares about women’s lives. She’s an athlete and she knows what Title Nine did for girls like her… It is an honor to call her sister”
Hallelujah. In recent weeks, mine and other conservative women’s prior suspicions were proven true. There is no room in modern feminism for a pro-life woman. Groups like Feminist for Life of America (www.feministsforlife.org) have been fighting this battle in the background for quite awhile, but the Palin nomination brought the ugly truth into the light. It’s tough to be a pro-life feminists. I’m not invited to go shoe shopping with the Sex and the City gals because I don’t understand how abortion is good for women, and the gals on the church hospitality committee don’t quite get me either. And I’ve recently learned that I’m not alone.
Despite all of Palin’s feminist credentials; female athlete, successful working mother, first female Governor of Alaska, she wasn’t allowed in the club because she is pro-life. The only right for women NOW really cares about is the right to abortion and now everyone knows it, including pro-choice feminists who can see beyond one issue. Pro-choice feminists like Shelly Mandell, and boy is she in trouble. Here’s a portion of a statement issued by the California National Organization for Women (who support abortion).
Ms. Mandell was speaking as an individual and was not authorized to represent NOW, the NOW PAC or LA NOW in any capacity in connection with a federal candidate endorsement… As President of California NOW and as a member and officer of Los Angeles NOW, I can assure you that there is no local or state affiliate of NOW, including LA NOW, which endorses or supports the McCain/Palin ticket. John McCain and Sarah Palin oppose many of the rights and freedoms we have fought for throughout NOW's 42 years, and we will not be pushed back to the days of back-alley abortions, forced pregnancies, and pay discrimination without remedy.

The statement mentions that Palin opposes many of the right and freedoms of women, but the only issue they refer to by name is abortion. I would LOVE to know what other women’s issues she’s on the wrong side of. TELL ME! JUST TELL ME how I’m wrong and I will say, “I’m sorry, I was wrong.” And we’ll hug, cut the sleeves off our flannel shirts and go to Lillith Fair. I’ll be waiting… right here… anytime… whatever’s good for you…
